My love for people and writing has led me here to Kansas City, Missouri. I definitely didn't start my journey here though. I'm from a small town in Kansas, where I attended a community college to pursue theatre. Along the way, I participated in several activities such as media club, where I wrote articles, served as a news anchor, and created video projects. I was then recruited by the Director of Marketing and became her assistant, serving as the Social Media Marketing Coordinator. This is where I learned to use my writing skills to help others, as I worked to create marketing material to show off my incredible school.
I then traveled to Brunswick, Maine where I received a summer marketing internship at a prestigious theatre, Maine State Music Theatre. It was my first move away from Kansas. It was a terrifying, but rewarding journey as I learned more about the theatre and marketing world, all while taking in a gorgeous view of the ocean! Shortly after, I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and attended Colorado State University. I had no idea what exactly I wanted to do, but I knew no matter what, I needed to keep writing. That summer, I served in another marketing internship for a web design and marketing agency in Kansas, brainstorming new ways to promote small companies in and around the Wichita area. I wrote ad campaigns, created social media contests, and found different ways to promote people's passions. I loved helping people showcase their small businesses and wanted to continue that feeling throughout my career. I started freelance writing and submitted to any place that would publish my work. After a few semesters at CSU, I was ready for a new adventure. I applied to work at the Disney College Program and was accepted Fall of 2016. I worked in Epcot as a Cast Member, sharing the Disney magic with everyone who entered the park. Making people happy everyday was a feeling unlike any other. I knew this was something I loved and wanted to continue spreading happiness after my program ended. Disney gave me a taste of the entertainment world, which made me crave the full bite. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Communications with a minor in Film Studies. I worked as a content writer in Dallas, Texas for a software and mortgage company, brainstorming ways to creatively promote this product to title and mortgage companies. I then worked as a Digital Content Coordinator for a nonprofit marketing agency, planning, scheduling, researching, and writing blog posts, video scripts, email campaigns, infographics, and eBooks to educate nonprofit audiences on effective fundraising strategies. I currently reside in Kansas City, working as a remote Copywriter for a content marketing agency, collaborating with a team of writers to develop ideas for articles and ad copy to promote small businesses. We all have a story to tell, some people lack the ability or resources to communicate theirs. I truly believe that's why I'm on this earth- to help people share their stories. Whether it be the story of starting a new business, raising money for their nonprofit, or revolutionizing the tech industry, I want to be the person behind the keyboard giving them a voice. |
