Oh Hey There, I'm Holly
My love for people and writing has led me here to Dallas, Texas. I definitely didn't start my journey here though. I'm from a small town in Kansas, where I attended a community college to pursue theatre. Along the way, I participated in several activities such as media club, where I wrote articles, served as a news anchor, and created video projects. I was then recruited by the Director of Marketing and became her assistant, serving as the Social Media Marketing Coordinator. This is where I learned to use my writing skills to help others, as I worked to create marketing material to show off my incredible school.
I then traveled to Brunswick, Maine where I received a summer marketing internship at a prestigious theatre, called Maine State Music Theatre. It was my first move away from Kansas. It was a terrifying, but rewarding journey to make as I learned more about the theatre and marketing world, all while taking in a gorgeous view of the ocean!
Shortly after, I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and attended Colorado State University. I had no idea what exactly I wanted to do, but I knew no matter what, I needed to keep writing. That summer, I served in another marketing internship for a web design and marketing agency in Kansas, brainstorming new ways to promote small companies in and around the Wichita area. I wrote ad campaigns, created social media contests, and found different ways to promote people's passions. I loved helping people showcase their companies and wanted to continue that feeling as I developed my career. I started freelance writing and wrote articles to submit to any place that would publish my work.
After a few semesters at CSU, I was ready for a new adventure. I applied to work at the Disney College Program and was accepted Fall of 2016. I worked in Epcot as a Cast Member, spreading and sharing the magic with everyone who entered the park. Making people happy everyday was a feeling unlike any other. I knew this was something I loved and wanted to continue spreading happiness, even once my program had ended.
All of this has led me here to Dallas, Texas. I graduated from CSU in January 2017 and began working full time down here for a mortgage technology startup company. In December of 2018, I started working as a Digital Content Coordinator at a nonprofit marketing and fundraising agency, RKD Group.
I'm now ready for an adventure where I can constantly use my creativity and passion to help make people happy. My writing has always brought me joy, and I want to use it to bring others joy as well. I believe I can do that through stories. We all have a story to tell, some people struggle to tell theirs. I truly believe that is why I'm on this earth, to help people share their story. Whether it be the story of starting a new business, raising money for their nonprofit, or revolutionizing the tech industry, I want to be the person behind the keyboard writing about it, giving them a voice. I find my passion through showcasing other people's passions.
